Tales of Love: Rebecca Bourne FRIDAY 31 JANUARY - 28 FEBRUARY 2003 This was the first chance to see a new collection of work by artist Rebecca Bourne, whose work centres around love, loss, jealousy and romance through a series of boxed love tokens. •• Tales of Love examines the emotional experiences of love, notions of idealism and how society disguises the ugliness of reality. Although many search for true love, the ideal partner and love at first sight, this remains for most of us an un-realistic dream. On first appearances Bourne's work can be viewed as purely decorative, romantic and desirable, but on closer inspection it deals with the darker experiences of love, such as jealousy, longing, bitterness and resentment.
