Homespun

Brixton residents are aware of the area’s reputation for innovation and experimentation in music and club culture, but are largely unaware of the special position local practitioners have in the worlds of art and design. The Homespun programme seeks to address this by showing work made by a variety of practitioners within our specialist textile print workshop. It’s aim is to promote different aspects of craft practice, some of which still carries an image of localised, small-scale cottage industry, yet in reality occupies a powerful position both industrially and within contemporary practice.

•• Homespun’s first show was with design group Lost Dog Creative, who make printed textile work for high profile corporate clients including Evian, Virgin Megastore, Manic Street Preachers and Rizla.
